Trieste! Built high above the rocky and dramatic Adriatic coast, this beautiful Italian City was also the main port for the Austro-Hungarian Empire. Hence, it has been inspired by a confluence of many cultures. Having maternal roots in this unique city and having spent 25 memorable summers there, our gracious hostess, Debra Irvine, with able assistance from husband, Rob, looks forward to sharing this multi-cultural cuisine with fortunate guests. —- Antipasti (cheeses, cold cuts, salads, breads, seafood), Primi (home-made pastas, sauces, grilled vegetables, and meats), Dolci (traditional desserts and authentic Trieste coffee) —- this spectacular buffet will truly tempt the most discriminating diner. And, of course, the appropriate wines will be served for immodest consumption. Come for the food and wine, but also be sure to savor the grand views from Baldy to Peak One. —- Allegria!

BLUE RIVER SERIES CONCERT
Mark O’Connor’s Hot Swing
Virtuoso Violinist and composer Mark O'Connor is widely recognized as one of the most gifted contemporary composers in America and surely one of the brightest talents of his generation.
O'Connor has been a top name on the Bluegrass circuit since he first won a national bluegrass fiddling title as a teenager. He has used the years since to branch out into multiple musical genres. His recent recordings include "Appalachia Waltz," trio performances with cellist Yo Yo Ma and bassist Edgar Meyer, music written by O'Connor and Meyer. His compositions on the classical side include four violin concertos and the "Americana Symphony," recently recorded by the Baltimore Symphony Orchestra under Marin Alsop. O'Connor traces his performance roots from America's rich aural folk tradition, including folk fiddler and innovator Benny Thomasson, as well as classical and flamenco music.
O’Connor’s jazz performances and compositions pay tribute to his friend and mentor, the legendary French jazz master Stephane Grappelli. While performing a number of tunes closely associated with Grappelli, O’Connor’s albums and live performances extend the repertoire with O’Connor’s original compositions. Joined by guitarists such as Frank Vignola and Julian Lage, ‘Hot Swing’ continues to celebrate acoustic string jazz/Gypsy Jazz Style in new and exciting ways.
Tickets will be $26 in advance, and $30 Day Of Show.
Tickets will be available at the Riverwalk Center Box Office

Where the Wild Things Are
(Flowers, of course!)
This year’s wildflower hike with noted local botanist, Nancy Redner, promises to be one of our most exciting ever! You’ll combine both wildflowers and local history as you follow in the footsteps of famous itinerant snowshoe preacher, Father Dyer, to the old mine and ghost town of Rexford. Here Father Dyer delivered the mail and picked up the gold on his way to his next stop in Montezuma. A rushing stream, soaring vistas and meadows of wildflowers promise to make this moderate hike most memorable! The historic destination of Rexford will be our stopping off point for a fabulous gourmet box lunch, transported to us by a trusty jeep with a stalwart driver! After lunch, just relax in this idyllic spot or venture a bit further to high alpine. What a way to spend a summer day!
Please wear sturdy hiking shoes or boots, bring rain gear (just in case) and plenty of water. Hiking poles are optional, but could be useful.
Date: Tuesday, July 21st at 9:00AM
Location: Meet at the Dredge Board historic site on
Tiger Rd. Breckenridge
Cost: $35 per guest (limited to 20 lovers of all things wild)
